New full-unit gas fireplace installations
For rooms without an existing fireplace, a full standalone gas fireplace unit is framed into the wall with a new venting run to the exterior. Direct-vent is the preferred option where an exterior wall is accessible. Our team designs the venting route during the site visit so there are no surprises about penetration locations or finishing requirements.
Wood-to-gas conversions
An existing masonry or factory-built wood fireplace can be converted to gas using an insert and a correctly sized liner. We assess the existing chimney, confirm it is structurally sound, and size the liner to the insert’s venting requirements. The result is a gas appliance using the existing firebox structure, which saves construction cost compared to a full new installation.
Process and commissioning
Proper commissioning is the step most often skipped by contractors who are unfamiliar with gas appliance work. After the unit is installed and vented, our team pressure-tests the gas supply line, confirms the venting is drawing correctly, measures carbon monoxide at the room level, and runs the fireplace through its operating range before signing off.
The carbon monoxide check is not optional. Ontario’s Fire Code requires a functioning CO detector on the same floor as any gas-burning appliance. We confirm the existing detector is within its service life and correctly placed, and we advise on upgrading to a combination smoke and CO detector where needed. This step takes ten minutes and it is the one that matters most for the safety of your household.
